The National Center for Infrastructure Transformation (NCIT) hosted a webinar on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. (CDT). Titled “Responding to Transportation Project Challenges: New Developments in Geotechnical Tools, Processes, and Workflow,” the session was led by Derrick Dasenbrock from the FHWA Resource Center’s Geotechnical and Hydraulic Engineering Team.


Dasenbrock explored innovative tools, updated processes, and streamlined workflows designed to address the complexities of transportation projects. From advanced geotechnical practices to strategies for improving efficiency, the webinar provided professionals at all career stages with practical insights into emerging best practices shaping the future of transportation infrastructure.

Derrick Dasenbrock is a geotechnical engineer with the USDOT Federal Highway Administration’s Resource Center, joining them in April of 2020. Through his career, Derrick has contributed to many case history papers related to site characterization and foundation performance. He is actively engaged in projects related to advanced site characterization, geotechnical data interoperability, exchange, and visualization with groups including TRB, DFI, and the ASCE Geo-Institute. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota, a Diplomate of Geotechnical Engineering, an ASCE Fellow and the current Chair of the GI’s Technical Coordination Council.
